YouTube Script Generator: A Blueprint from a Video That Works
Paste a YouTube video that worked, yours or one you admire, and the script generator rebuilds its structure as a blueprint for a new video on the same topic: the hook, the promise, three beats, a re-hook, the payoff and three other ways to open.
Download only videos you made or have permission to use. Tube Snip shows each video's license so you can check before you reuse it.

How to generate a YouTube script in 3 steps
- Paste the link of a video that works. Pick one on your topic that held viewers: your own best video, or a strong one from your niche.
- Open the AI tab and choose Script blueprint. The tool reads the whole video and rebuilds how it's put together, not what it literally says.
- Write your video on top of it. Copy the blueprint into your doc and fill each part with your own story, examples and words.
Script blueprints are part of the Creator and Studio plans and cost 20 credits a run.
Looking for the script of an existing video? Many people searching for a "YouTube script generator" want the words someone already said. That's a transcript: the transcript generator gives you every word of a video as clean text with timestamps.
What does the blueprint contain?
| Part | When it happens | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Hook | 0–8 seconds | Makes the viewer stay past the first swipe or skip |
| Promise | Right after the hook | Says what they'll be able to do or know by the end |
| Three beats | The body | The main steps or points, in the order that builds |
| Re-hook | About 40% in | A tease of what's coming, where many viewers drift off |
| Payoff and call to action | The end | Delivers the promise, then one clear next step |
| Three alternative hooks | Separate list | Other ways to open the same video, to test or film |
That shape isn't a trick. It's the structure behind most tutorials and explainers that keep people watching: say why to stay, deliver in clear steps, remind them why to keep going halfway, and pay off what you promised.
Why start from a video that already works?
A blank page is the slowest way to write a script. Generators that start from a typed topic give you the same generic outline everyone else gets. Starting from a video that held its audience gives you a proven skeleton for your topic: which point it opens with, how long it takes to get to the first step, where it tells a story, and where it brings people back.
The blueprint keeps that skeleton and leaves the content to you. Never copy another creator's words, jokes or examples. Take the structure, which nobody owns, and fill it with what only you can say. YouTube's own copyright basics say it plainly: ideas, facts and processes aren't subject to copyright, but the words and footage are.
An example blueprint
Here's the shape of a blueprint, shown for an example source video about starting to run:
- Hook (0–8 s): open on the result. "Six weeks ago I couldn't run for two minutes. This morning I ran 5K without stopping."
- Promise (8–20 s): "By the end you'll have the exact week-by-week plan and the one mistake that made me quit the first time."
- Beats: why most beginners run too fast → the run-walk method, week by week → shoes, breathing and when to rest.
- Re-hook at 40%: "Week three is where I almost gave up. I'll show you what changed."
- Payoff and ask: show the 5K, recap the plan in one line, then one ask: "Tell me in the comments which week you're on."
Alternative hooks: start with the mistake ("I quit running twice because of one thing"), with a question ("Can you go from zero to 5K in six weeks?"), or with the plan on screen ("Here's the whole plan in one picture").
Your video uses the same skeleton, with your own story, numbers and voice inside it.
Five kinds of hooks that hold viewers
The three alternative hooks usually come from these families. Try the one that fits how you talk:
- The result first: show the end before the start. Works for tutorials, transformations and builds.
- The mistake: name what most people get wrong. Works for advice and how-to videos.
- The question: ask the exact thing the viewer typed into search, then promise the answer.
- The surprise: a fact or number that goes against what people expect, as long as it's true.
- The stakes: what the viewer loses if they get it wrong: time, money or a failed exam.
Whichever you choose, get to it in the first sentence. Logos, long intros and "hey guys, welcome back" spend the seconds that decide whether anyone stays. YouTube Studio measures exactly this: the Intro key moment shows what share of viewers are still watching after the first 30 seconds.
Write the script from the blueprint
- Pick one of the hooks and say it out loud. If it sounds unnatural in your voice, try the next one.
- Write the promise in one sentence. If you can't, the video is about too many things.
- Fill the three beats with your own steps, a personal example in each, and one thing your viewers usually get wrong.
- Write the re-hook around the 40% mark: "the third step is where most people mess up, and I'll show you mine".
- End with the payoff, then one ask. Subscribe, comment or watch the next video: one, not three.
- Read it aloud with a timer. About 150 spoken words a minute is a comfortable pace, so a 1,500-word script is roughly a 10-minute video.
Where your blueprint goes
iPhone and iPad
Tap Copy and paste the blueprint into Notes, Google Docs or a teleprompter app, or Save .txt to the Files app.
Android
Copy to Google Docs or Keep, or Share it to your teleprompter app.
Windows, Mac and Chromebook
Paste into Google Docs, Word or Notion and write under each heading. The blueprint is plain Markdown, so the headings carry over.
Scripts in other languages
Choose a language under Answer in and the blueprint is written in it. A strong English video on your topic can become a blueprint for a Hindi, Spanish or Indonesian video, written for your audience instead of translated word for word.
YouTube script generators: Tube Snip vs other tools
When we asked Google's AI Overview and Perplexity for the best YouTube script generator in October 2026, vidIQ, Poppy AI and Subscribr were among the tools they named. Each tool's facts below were checked on its own website on 19 October 2026.
| Tool | What it is | Price | Install | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tube Snip | Web app | Creator plan ($9/month), 20 credits a blueprint | Nothing | A script blueprint rebuilt from a video that already held its audience: hook, structure, pacing and three other hooks | Needs a paid plan and a source video with speech |
| vidIQ | Web app and browser extension | Free with a vidIQ account (daily access); paid plans | Optional Chrome extension | A full first draft from a topic or title idea | It starts from what you type, not from a video that worked |
| Poppy AI | Web app (visual board) | $1 for a 7-day trial, then a paid plan | Nothing | Studying many videos, ads and posts on one board and writing in your voice | More tool than you need for one script |
| Subscribr | Web app | Growth $99/month (up to 8 videos a month: idea, script, thumbnail, edit) | Nothing | Channels that want ideas, scripts, thumbnails and edits from one service | The highest price of the group |
Pick by situation. To borrow the structure of a video that already works, Tube Snip. For a free first draft from an idea, vidIQ. For a research board across many sources, Poppy AI. For a full done-for-you pipeline, Subscribr.
More tools for the same video
- Find the hook that already exists: the Shorts ideas finder points to the strongest moments of a long video.
- Titles for your new video: the title generator writes five, once your video is uploaded.
- Description and chapters: the description generator adds chapters that match your three beats.
- Study the original properly: notes break a video into headings, quotes and action items.
Why script generation fails, and the fix
| What you see | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Script blueprint is part of the Creator plan" | Blueprints need Creator or Studio | Upgrade, or use Notes to study a video's structure yourself |
| "This video has no captions" | No creator captions and no auto-captions | Pick a video with speech and captions |
| The blueprint follows the wrong topic | The source video drifts between topics | Use a video that sticks to one topic |
| "This needs 20 credits" | Not enough credits left | Add a credit pack or wait for your plan's credits |
Who uses it
- New creators who have the topic but not the structure.
- Educators turning a lecture that worked into a shorter YouTube lesson.
- Channel managers briefing a scriptwriter with a clear skeleton instead of "make it like that one".
- Creators going multilingual, building a native-language version of a format that worked.
The rules
Structure is free to learn from; words, footage and characters belong to their creators. Write your own script on the blueprint, and use only footage that is your own, Creative Commons or used with permission.
Questions about this tool
What does the YouTube script generator do?
It reads a video that works and rebuilds its structure as a blueprint for a new video on the same topic: hook, promise, three beats, re-hook, payoff and three alternative hooks.
Is the script generator free?
Script blueprints are part of the Creator and Studio plans and cost 20 credits a run. The other AI tools have free daily runs.
Can I get the script of an existing YouTube video?
Yes, that is a transcript. The transcript generator gives you every word of the video as clean text with timestamps.
Does it copy the other video's script?
No. It keeps the structure and leaves the words to you. Never reuse another creator's words, jokes or examples.
How long should a YouTube script be?
At about 150 spoken words a minute, a 1,500-word script is roughly a 10-minute video. Read it aloud with a timer to check.
What is a re-hook?
A short tease about 40% into the video of what is still coming, placed where many viewers would otherwise drift off.
Can it write scripts in other languages?
Yes. Choose one of more than 50 languages under Answer in before you run it.
Which video should I use as the source?
One on your topic that kept people watching: your own best performer, or a video in your niche with strong views for its channel size. Avoid videos that jump between several topics.
Does it work for Shorts scripts?
The blueprint is built for long videos. For Shorts, keep only the hook, one beat and the payoff, or let the Shorts ideas finder pick moments from a long video.
Before you download
Why do some downloaders give me HD video with no sound?
In HD, YouTube serves picture and sound as two separate streams. Tube Snip downloads both and joins them, so every file in the Video tab plays with audio.
Can I paste just the video ID?
Yes. Paste the 11 characters after v= and it works the same as a full link. Shorts links, youtu.be links, embed links and links with a start time all work too.
How do I share a video from the YouTube app?
Install Tube Snip from your browser menu ("Add to Home screen" or "Install app"). Then in the YouTube app tap Share and pick Tube Snip; the video opens here, ready to download or summarise.
What are credits?
Credits pay for AI work. A transcript costs a few credits and a script blueprint costs more; the table above shows each tool. Downloading never uses credits. Unused monthly credits do not roll over; credit packs never expire.
Is downloading YouTube videos allowed?
Download your own videos and videos you have permission to use. Each result shows the video's license. Creative Commons videos can be reused with credit; standard-license videos need the creator's permission. We remove videos after valid copyright requests.
Which AI models do you use?
We route each tool to the model that does it best, from providers like Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. Best quality uses a stronger model and costs twice the credits.
